The BET Hip-Hop awards hosted by Miami’s own DJ Khaled on Tuesday evening, October 10. The night was filled with legendary performances and influential moments made in Hip-Hop. The show opener included a performance by DJ Khaled featuring Rick Ross, Plies, Trick Daddy and T-Pain of the “I’m So Hood” hit single.
Cardi B is having a phenomenal year and it didn’t make any stops at the awards. Cardi took home 5 awards including Best New Hip Hop Artist and the Hustler of the year awards. She made sure to thank her bae, Offset of the Migos, in her speech – how cute.
The night’s biggest rumble was led by Eminem’s freestyle cypher ripping President Donald Trump and his supporters to shreds. The freestyle was 4 minutes of bars surrounding the many issues that we face in our society today including immigration, corruption, the NFL, gun control, the recent natural disasters, hypocrisy and more.
At the end of the rant, Em made it clear where he stands and encourages his fans to take a stand too, “And any fan of mine who’s a supporter of his/ I’m drawing, in the sand, a line/You’re either for or against/And if you can’t decide who you like more and you’re split/On who you should stand beside/I’ll do it for you with this: F*k you!/The rest of America stand up/We love our military, and we love our country/But we f*ing hate Trump!”

The close out the awards, the Lifetime Achievement award was awarded to the legendary Uncle Luke for his life-long career of developing and leading hip-hop in the south. He left with a powerful speech encouraging black businesses to form and uplift the community.
“Thirty years in this business, and ain’t nobody ever honor me for shit,” Luke begins in his acceptance speech. “We got kicked off stage because they said we did booty music. Said we wasn’t hip-hop. With the conventions, they told us that the South would not be what it is today. I said f*k y’all,” he continues.
He then performed with Trick Daddy and Trina to close out the show.
