Nicki Minaj is not taking the news of her album sales lightly on social media over the weekend. The Queen released her album last week and sold 185,000 copies. In comparison, Travis Scott’s Astroworld sold 205,000 total copies in its second week of release still topping Queen.
Nicki pushed back her album twice to get just the right release date and as she tweeted, “I put my blood sweat & tears in writing a dope album only for Travis Scott to have Kylie Jenner post a tour pass telling ppl to come see her & Stormi. lol. Im actually laughing. #Queen broke the record of being number 1 in 86 countries. Thank Jesus & thank you to my fans.”
Minaj believes the collaboration of Kylie Jenner’s success along with Travis Scott’s success in his apparel line has led up to an unfair count of album sales as some were bundle deals, etc.
She goes on to say: “I looked at the numbers the Carters, Kanye, Nas, etc recently did. Travis sold 200k in his first week of clothes alone,” she tweeted, referring to the hoodies, t-shirts and more the Houston rapper sells. “I spoke to him last night & he said he’s been selling clothes b4 the music. Billboard says they’ll change the rules cuz of this, so it should be changed now!”
“Spotify had to teach me a lesson but reward the man who has had an Apple radio show the longest; inadvertently helping the Apple platform the most,” she tweeted, referring to Drake and Spotify promotion of Scorpion, which featured Drizzy’s image plastered throughout the site.
“My music went up on Apple so I played it,” Nicki continued. “I assumed it was on Spotify & Tidal at the same time. Spotify said that Apple tweeted fans advising #Queen was up & therefore they had to teach me a lesson… They took away my promotion they had promised for the 1st [couple] days b/c of this. #Queen.”
After this troll-rant, she then attempted to take back her comments labeling them as “dry/sarcastic humor.”
Tough loss, Nicki!
