The public memorial service for Ermias Asghedom aka Nipsey Hussle brought together over 21,000 inside the Staples Center in Los Angeles a week after the rapper was murdered. Inside the arena was a mix of friends, family, peers, as well as many celebrities including Jay-Z and Beyonce, Snoop Dogg, Stevie Wonder and more. Performances were led by Marsha Ambrosius, Jhene Aiko, and Anthony Hamilton.
Nipsey left behind a mother, father, brother, sister, girlfriend Lauren London and 2 children who all were present at the service and spoke a few words. Lauren read a text message she sent him earlier this year that had the arena in tears, “You’ve been my turn up and church. I wouldn’t want to go thru this journey with anyone but you,” she reads. “I love you so much. Unconditionally. My truth is this. I’m never going to give up on you. My loyalty and devotion is to you.”
Obama sent in a letter to pay his respects for the fallen soldier that was read by Karen Civil.
We heard beautiful words from both Nipsey’s Mom, Dad, and Brother on who he was as a person and how he grew up. They were able to muster up multiple videos of Nip and brother Sam dancing and spending time with their father.
Nipsey Hussle’s mom sounds like Nipsey was forecasting his own death 😨 but he would ALWAYS tell her he’s A1 💙 pic.twitter.com/tGlu9rbMc8

We also heard words from YG, Snoop Dogg, his sister Samantha Smith, Minister Louis Farrakhan. The service was truly full of love and even those watching on television felt it.
After the memorial service, the 25-mile procession began with Nipsey’s hearse leading the way through Los Angeles. THOUSANDS gathered at The Marathon store on Slauson Rd waiting to send him off to rest in peace. Check out the video of the scene below:
