This story shares the life and times of Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandy “Pepa” Denton, the first platinum-selling female Hip-hop act in history. The background starts as them being strangers to being as close as sisters. Their group started in 1985 with DJ Spinderella joining them soon after.
The movie shows the journey they were on as they managed to push through every circumstance in their way. The duo states when it comes to the recent flush of millennial female artists making their way onto the hip-hop scene, the pair says the secret formula for success includes longevity, commitment, and originality. The movie began showing on Lifetime on Jan. 23.
